Among other successful countries, when it comes to education the United States is far from first place. What do you think is going wrong with American education? How could it be fixed?
First off, education starts at home. Education is not valued the same way as it was years ago, it is a parent’s job to instill the value of education in their children so if you’re parents don’t stay on you about school then what can a teacher really do to make a student value you their education? Another reason the American school system is failing is because of the regulation, the board of education has so many restrictions and stipulations on how the material is taught. What if a teacher has found a way to teach the required material in a way that is comfortable for themselves and students but they can’t use their methods because the board of education has specific ways they want the content to be taught. The biggest issue we have in the American school system is that most kids attend public school and majority of the people who regulate the public school system have children that attend private school, with that being said how could you possibly know what a child in public school should learn? I think the next issue is regents. Regents in my opinion are foolish, what does it matter if you can pass a test but you failed the class all year. Some students have the attitude of ‘’I don’t have to do any work because all I have to do is pass the regents and I’m going to the next grade.’’ But there are students who worked hard all year but they don’t pass the regents, they may have to take the class over because the board of education considers them unfit to move on. What if they are just not good at taking test, does that mean that the student didn’t learn anything because they didn’t pass a test? Lastly, American students are unappreciative. In America a child can attend grades K-12 for free, some children in other countries grow up illiterate, not because they want to but because their parents can’t afford to pay for school or they can’t afford to pay for transportation. Most American students live within walking distance or a train or bus ride away from their school and they complain about nonsense such as waking up early, school hours are too long, etc. Some kids have to wake up early so they can walk miles to school and still be on time.

I believe there are many things that are going wrong with American education. The education some kids might not understand how well the teacher might be teaching. Also at time kids do not pay attention because they are so involve with other kids. That kid isn’t letting them learn. So my opinion stated that the environment at time and like the things they see on the street some kids might want to be down with it. School is a place to learn at time subject might be hard but it will take time for it to process. When I look at other states they have it easy because in American we have to take regents and all of that to get out of high school. In my opinion I believe that it isn’t that serious really like the government is going too hard on this regent’s stuff. That a lot on our plates and we have to try. Some kids drop out of high school and some just want to gave up because it a lot that we need each and every year. I just hope things will change for the better people should understand what we are going though. When I was young I never know life could be so hard and so much of work to get from one end to the next. But like my principle say you are going to have to do what you have to do. Stuff just doesn’t come to you. You will have to go out there and get it that how I see it now as is getting older. We can fix this problem by just giving us a little slack on regents and what not. School is tuff for us. Elementary then junior high then high school last is college that a lot of years you are going through. If you want your future to be the best yes all those years you need. Unless you like one of the smarts person who skip grades like noting. Like I been saying it might change maybe or maybe noting. I can’t tell the future I just have to reach for my goals. Everybody been saying education is the key to success without education I don’t know where you might end up. At time things happen unexpectedly but you have mind so you much use it. But you know stuff change and if it does change then we can say fewer kids would not end up in a bad position.

Kendra Thomas I believe that the problem with education in the United States is that in order for kids to get better grades on tests they are being dumb down. Which makes no sense to me because there is only so much you can do to a test before our civilization becomes just like the movie “Idiocracy.” “Idiocracy” is about the story of two ordinary people who are taken into a top-secret military hibernation experiment that goes wrong, and then awakes 500 years in the future. They discover that the world has worsened into a dystopia or in other words conditions of life on earth are really bad. Advertising stupid things, and educational abuse run out of control and pressures have resulted in a uniformly stupid human society; lacking of individual responsibility or consequences. My point is that though technology is getting better, it doesn’t mean that it will continue that way. I believe that if our tests keep on getting easier our society won’t be able to grow and advance; if there is one thing that you shouldn’t do in this world it’s to back peddle. Instead of getting better teachers or working hard to figure out ways to communicate with scholars, I feel like the government is taking the easy way out, which will definitely not work for younger generations to come. It’s bizarre that this topic came up because I remember before I took my math regents my math teacher at the time Mr. Martin was going on websites to take old math tests. I’m not sure what year math test he took but he had to use two pages or more to figure out one math question, he was calling different teachers in his class to come look at it and they couldn’t figure it out either. If that doesn’t prove that that we can’t take the easy way out especially when it comes to education I don’t know what will. I also believe that even though you want to teach it doesn’t mean you have the skill too. Some teachers don’t know how to command their class rooms and get students interested; if you can’t do that then you shouldn’t teach. It’s very blunt but true. It doesn’t matter if you want too the real question is can you?

There are many things wrong with the united states education system. The thing that is the cause for being ranked 20th in the world is technology. Technology is the cause because when students are given a task they just go surf the web and copy the answer. The students dont learn when they just copy the answer they need to go more in depth but they just choose not because they have became lazy. Another reason it is technology is because of social networking. Students will some times use the web for incorrect reason instead of reasearching stiff they would just use social networking sites facebook, twitter, myspace etc. Another cause for The united states being lowly ranked is enviorment or peer pressure. I would say envirment pressure because if schools are far away and the students have to wake up early then they will be more tired. When students are more tired they will fall asleep more making it so they dont learn any thing..And even if they dont fall asleep they will doze off and not pay attention.I would say peer pressure because if they live in a bad neighborhood the students will be very hesitant to learn . thereforethey dont want to learn because they could face risks like being bullied or even worse. I also would have to put some of the blame on the teachers. Teachers have alot of material to cover in such a short time therefore they may sometimes rush through the lesson. When the teacher rushes through the lessson the students may not have a chance to ask questions on the topic. Also they may ask the teacher a question and the teacher says ill get back to you but they never get back to you and then the question slips the students mind an d the question comes up on a test and the student doest know it. I would also say technology again because the united states technology is not as advanced as theirs. For example the chinese technolgy is more advanced than us because what may come out 2years from now may come out 6 months in china there fore they can use information us united states students cant.
I believe there are many things going wrong with the American Education. In some circumstances the teachers are the problem , their method of teaching might not be understandable which makes it hard for the students to understand which causes them to be pushed back and that can really effect there grades. Nobodies perfect an with most students they feel that everything has to be perfect which drops a load of pressure on them while in school. Some students make poor choices when it comes to school they cut school because its to much for them and later on cutting school leads to dropping out of school which isn’t a good path to go down. I think another reason why American education is going bad is because when students sit in a class room they don’t want to be bored or half sleep they want some excitement while getting an education but in most classes teachers aren’t really catching the students eyes. Also when one or two students don’t understand what’s being teacher in a class an everyone else in the class does they might feel shy because they’re the only one that need help and I think that teachers should encourage there students in there classrooms to speak up when they need help and teach the class if a student needs help don’t discourage them cause they need more help than others. If the government fix these problems (every little thing count) each year the American Education would be much better instead of letting students education go down the drain.
i believe there are many problems with the united states education system.the students are not learning because all they want to do is get the answer without trying the problem its always one of to things happen the kids dont want to learn or the teachers dont care or they are not getting the things they need to learn everyboby have they way of learning and all teachers have they way of teaching like nework they school dont have windows maybe they would have higher grucation rates if the board of ed give what the student need thats why we have a higher criminal rate then a graduation rate so things i think we can do the fix it is get more parents involved in there children education because that is the key to success now of days all kids want to do is play games and smoke weed and they losing brain Sales or some kids work better one on one so if the teacher need to stay a hour after school to help the kids do it when they finsh school you can be happy you help put that person were he is right now ...........
I don't think it's something wrong with American education because if student's work hard and try to understand what school is and take school more serious , American education will most likely be successful as other countries. American education isn't that good but its not terrible but back in the day's "I heard school in America was much more easier back then , then it is now". Other ways American students can make our country a successful country is by going to school , go to a school that is highly educated and has very good classes , do all homework ,classwork , study more and by completing all assignments that are assigned to you. Students are not the only reason why America education is far from being successful as other counties because some of the American teachers are rude disrespectful and sometimes can be a little hard to understand and some American students can not function like that. Some students may not care about what eduction is, some student laugh and play and if they feel that eduction is a game they will get no where in life. Students can get very distracted fast and be unfocused for a good amount of time and they lose out on GOOD eduction that they should of been focused on. American education can get much better if students really put there foot down and start to participate more and be focused and work really really hard to be a successful country.
I don’t think anything is wrong with American education. I think it’s the students. Or maybe even some teacher. Teachers come to work every day ready to help us children and teach us whatever we need to know. If a child comes to school and don’t want to learn then what can a teacher do? Try to help the child or find other solutions. Yeah some school may be broke so they can’t pay for most books or things students need. But that’s why the school has to have fundraiser and things in such that matter to help. A student and a teacher both have to meet at the same level and then things will become much easier. American education is the only thing I have. So I’m going to make it work.
First off, education starts at home.

ReplyDeleteI believe that the problem with education in the United States is that in order for kids to get better grades on tests they are being dumb down. ReplyDeleteThere are many things wrong with the united states education system.

ReplyDeleteI believe there are many things going wrong with the American Education.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it's something wrong with American education because if student's work hard and try to understand what school is and take school more serious , American education will most likely be successful as other countries.
ReplyDeleteAmerican education isn't that good but its not terrible but back in the day's "I heard school in America was much more easier back then , then it is now".
