For the Students, by the Students

This week’s topics were supplied by two students; you can respond to one or both. Enjoy!

By Marvin Clarke: “Hangout Session”
If you could hang out with any famous person, who would it be, what would you do, and why would you choose to do that certain thing with that person?

By James Singleton: “Teens and Sex”
Teens nowadays are jumping head first into having sex, which is not good. Teens between the ages of 13 and 17 are having multiple sex partners and sometimes unprotected sex. Do you think it’s all right for teens to have sex at an early age?

  1. If I could hang out with any famous person, the person would be Lupe Fiasco. Lupe and I would talk about a lot such as life and his songs. He is my favorite artist not just because he a guy. He different in his own way and his music have such a meaning to it. I believe in all his songs and the meaning to it. Lupe and his pal Q-tip they two I can really hangout and ask question about. They both somewhat act the same way and basically they songs connect to each and speak about reality. I want to go in the studio and actually listen to new music that supposed to be coming out soon. My experience would be over the top for the simple fact am with the two best known artist. I ask about what made you want to sing? How was life when you were young? Where there any obstacles you face to becoming an artist. Where were you born? Stuff like that no I would ask. Basically after that whole talking and going into the studio. We would have gone to restaurant and just chill for the rest of the day and eat. That how I would have actually done because is a fat person and love food but my whole connection is I want to see life like how they view it. Lupe is an important person to me and I believe that people should actually sit down and listen to his music. These songs actually talk about people and their daily and what they experience. Teens will always be teens. You can’t stop them from having sex but you can stop them from having different partner and keep them protected from any STD or so. You have to help teens not try to control their life. For 13 years old I believe that way over the edge and they need to keep their heads in the book instead of sex or boys. At the age of thirteen their head is on books, school, hanging with friends and parting. Life for teens supposes to be fun with excitement. I believe at the age of fifteen and down that what these teen need to think about. Sixteen and up yes sex will be there but you need to know how to handle yourself out there with your partner. Life is not easy but you must not have so much have partners just only one

  2. If I could hang out with a famous person, it would be Nicki Minaj because she is my favorite musical artist. I admire her style, personality and attitude. If I could hang out with her I would ask her where does she get her fashion ideas, what problems she came across before she was an artist, what made her become Nicki Minaj, what inspired her, and did she always want to become an artist. I would also ask her if someone inspired her to be in the music business, how did she come up with so many different personalities, does it confuse her when she switches up, or does she do it because she thinks its fun? I would hang out with her because she's a positive person that always accomplishes a new goal. She sets high standards for herself just as I do and I really like that about her. While hanging out with her I would want to go on tour with her all around the world because I would like to be part of the music business someday. Also I would like to throw a party with her as my special guest. We would also fly out to Trinidad and get something good to eat. Nicki Minaj inspires me to be my own person and not care what people think. Since 2006, when she first appeared on youtube I've learned that about her and I see that she doesnt care what people think. She always does what makes her happy and thats what I started doing. She showed me that you dont have to follow the crowd, you can always do something to make them want to follow you. Ever since then, I've been doing my own thing and not caring what people are saying or thinking about me. The way we both see it, you are what you respond to.

  3. If I could chill with any famous person I think I would chill with Pharrell Williams. If I chilled with Pharell we would make beats and shop. I have a great admiration for Pharrell’s since of style he find’s creative ways to incorporate urban, vintage and luxury fashion all into one Pharrell once said ”Fashion has to reflect who you are, what you feel at the moment and where your going. It doesn’t have to be bright, doesn’t have to be bright. Just be you.” I think a lot of people don’t realize that they have no sense of style. Most people just copy the latest trend and they consider themselves “fly” or “fresh’. They also don’t realize that they’re breaking their bank trying to follow other people. There is a reason why certain people wear Gucci and Louis Vuitton, because they can afford it. Some people think that you have to spend a lot of money to be fresh, you don’t if you jus focus on being you “fresh” will come `to you naturally, this is part of what I think Pharrell meant. I would want to make beats with Pharrell because I think he is one of the greatest producers this generation has ever seen. He supplied the sound for some of Hip-Hop and Pop’s biggest songs such as Noreaga’s “Superthug”, Jay-Z’s “I Jus Wannna Love U”, Brittney Spears’s “Slave 4 U” and many more big hits.

  5. if I could hangout with one person it would be with wiz khalifa. I would chill with him cause it seems like his life is really cool. we do some of the same things. also when you see him on tv it seems like he's a regular. and that makes me think if I hung out with him it wouldn't feel to high life and fame. Also I would drive around in all his cars and chill with everyone he chill with. he chills with rappers such as snoop dogg, rick ross, and a group called Taylor Gang. and if I i hung out with him, I would be introduce to all of those people witch is even better because its going to be a whole new atmosphere. i cant hang out with someone that i dont like and have no connection to, such as lil B i dont like him as a person or a rapper and i think he is wack. so if i hang with him it doesnt mean anything because of the tension. it would be akward and lame. i would just be quite and basically look into space. on the other hand with if i hung out with wiz khalifa i would have a voice and it would be more interesting then just staring into space and feeling uncomfortable. and again it would bring me to new experiences. all in all i would rather have the life thrilling, regular but good life and what better way to have that than hang out with someone exactly like that. im not going to get that kind of lifestyle hanging with someone who i think is the complete opposite, it just won't work.
