Sacrifice
Amir is about to return to Kabul, Afghanistan to save Sohrab and risk everything, including his own life. This week's blog is about sacrifice. Respond to one of the options below:
a) Is Amir right or wrong to risk his life for Sohrab? Does it really change anything if he finds him and brings him to Pakistan?
b) Is there anyone you would risk everything for? What experiences with this person make you feel that way?
c) What is the greatest sacrifice you have ever made? Why was it a major sacrifice, and what made you decide to do what you did?

I believe that Amir owes it to Hassan to rescue Sohrab. Even after everything that happened Hassan remained loyal to Amir until the day he died. Hassan always showed Amir the utmost respect for Amir. Amir may possibly represent the only memory Sohrab has of his father. Amir maybe able to reconcile the ill feelings he has within himself about Hassan’s rape. Bringing Sohrab to Pakistan may not change anything but at least in Pakistan Sohrab has a chance at a normal childhood. I think Amir will teach Sohrab about the good times and adventures he shared with Hassan. Amir may also tell Sohrab stories of how Afganistan use to be before the country became plagued by violence. I also think Amir will come to see Sohrab as a spitting image of Hassan from beyond the grave. I believe that these two individuals will develop a deep connection, similar to the relationship Hassan and Amir once shared. Amir will began to treat Sohrab as if he was his own. Most importantly I think this relationship will help Amir deal with the resentment he feels toward Baba. Also Sohrab may have answers to any questions that Amir may have gotten the chance to ask Hassan.
ReplyDeleteMy personal definition of the word sacrifice would be giving up something to get something else.I believe that Amir is right for risking his life to save Sohrab. One reason he is right because this is family he is helping out. Amir recently found out that Hassan was his brother and Sohrab was his son therefore that made Sohrab his nephew. You should always do what ever you can to help a fellow family member out. Also this could serve as just a little bit of redemption for what and how he treated Hassan. This will make a huge difference if Amir brings Sohrab to Pakistan. One reason it will make a difference because he have an easier life since he will not have to deal with the Taliban. The Taliban are very cruel people so if he can get a way from them he can get a better life. Another way it will make a difference is he will no longer have to deal with the discrimination in Afghan. He gets a lot of grief any way since he is a Hazara .If there was any one I would risk it all for it would be any one in my immediate family. I say them because they have been with me most my life. I also say them because they have made sacrifices for me . The sacrifices they made probaly were not that big but they were still sacrifices. The biggest sacrifice I probaly made was sacrificing my time. On weekends I used to do volunteer work. Therefore the sacrifice would be giving up my weekends. This could be time hanging out with friends, playing video games and other things. I decided to make this sacrifice because this work could help me out later on on things such as resume, job application, college and other things.Another sacrifice I made was giving up my time in order to help some body out. These sacrifices are things gave up in order to help some one out in their struggle. In conclusion amir made the right choice in assisting Sohrab to Pakistan.
ReplyDeleteI believe that Amir is right for risking his life for Sohrab. I believe the reason Amir tentatively agreed to look for Sohrab was to get rid himself of, the guilt that he felt towards Hassans. I believe that Amir admits to himself that looking for Sohrab is not characteristically him. Amir know what he was doing and I think Amir did it for a reason to save Sohrab. Throughout the book he grew more and more and become much mature to make better decision for himself. Which Amir doesn’t want Sohrab to follow the same fate as his father Hassan. He wants to be there for Sohrab no matter what. I believe I would take a risk for my boyfriend, family or friends. But I take a risk for my friends because I feel they would do the same for me. In life people do take risk for people. The experience I face from that person is emotional feeling or like passionate, loving for that person. By me taking that risk that person will make me feel different at the end of the day because I know to myself I did something good for that person. At the end of it all I’m feeling proud for what I have done. The type of risk I take is having kidney transplant for that person or if not a person ask for a loan of 25 thousand dollars I go out my way for that person to gave him/her the loan. When I was living in Guyana I had to leave Guyana to start over in America which that was a big sacrifice I did. The greatest sacrifice I made was giving another person everything that I have my love and feeling. You showing that person your deep dark secret and talking about your past life to that person and telling them things that you never told anyone one. I feel that if am making that sacrifice that like a big toll on me because you letting your feeling out and showing that person everything. It was a major sacrifice because you are open up to that person and you want them to understand you since no other person every did. Like I said when I left Guyana to move up here because my mom wanted a better life for us and believe that things will work out for the best.
